Our Veterinarians

Dr. Patrice Boroughs

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Boroughs was raised in San Diego and received her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from UC San Diego. She then worked for a Veterinary Pathologist in Rockville Maryland and from there became a DVM at UC Davis. Dr. Boroughs then lived in Arizona and worked in a small animals/ exotics practice. After moving back to the Central Coast with family, she joined our team in 2007. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and backingpacking in nature.

Dr. Davielle Smalley

Medical Director, DVM

Dr. Smalley graduated from Kansas State University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Originally from San Diego, after veterinary school she moved to the Central Coast with her husband, finding the perfect compromise between urban San Diego and rural Kansas. She most recently worked in shelter medicine before coming to the Animal Clinic of Santa Maria in 2019. In her free time she loves to spend it with her husband and her Chihuahua, Annie at the beach.

Jordan

Vet Technician, Administration Assistant

Jordan has been with us since 2018, moving from Reception to Veterinary Technician quickly due to her love for small animals and exotics. She has completed the RVT program at Hancock College and is in route to taking her RVT exam and getting licensed. She has a strong passion for surgery, especially dentistry and loves to further her career everyday by learning. She has a soft spot for Boxers, due to having her own at home; Sampson and her newly adopted Pitbull puppy, Frankie. Jordan loves to travel, hike and spend quality time with her family.

Rosie

RVT

Rosie Graduated from United Health Careers Institute in 1975 and became a RVT in 1992. She has been with this practice since 1990. Her work related interests include radiology, labwork and pet grooming. She enjoys reading, gardening and baking. Her pets include “Daynie” her border collie, “Gino” a German Shepherd. “Skyler” a yorkshire terrier and “Raina” her Shih- Tzu. She also has two cats named “Bozeman” and “Hope”. And last but not least, an african grey Parrot named “Opus”.

Kelsey

Vet Technician

Kelsey has been in the Veterinary field since 2017 and has grown up around animals her whole life. She plans on furthering her education and completing the RVT program through Hancock College. In her free time, she enjoys going on adventures with her Pitbull Lab mix Bubba and enjoying warm days at the Lake with family and friends.

Grace

Vet Technician

Grace has been working in the Veterinary field since 2020. She started as a kennel assistant and worked her way up to technician due to her passion for the animals. She plans on continuing her career in veterinary medicine and becoming a RVT. In her free time she enjoys hiking and going to the beach with her Aussie Cooper, and showing her horses Maverick and Xena in Reined Cow Horse shows.

Caroline

Vet Technician

Caroline is currently in the RVT program at Hancock College with the goal of obtaining her license. She started here as a kennel assistant and has expanded her skill set as a client care representative and is now working as one of our Veterinary Assistants. She was born in Costa Rica and has triple citizenship with her daughter; being the first in her family to be born in the United States. When she is not working or going to school, she loves to spend quality time with her daughter as well as her two rescue dogs; ZImba a mixed breed and Balto a Husky Shepherd mix. Caroline enjoys reading, being outdoors, scrapbooking and traveling whenever she can. She has lived in various places growing up and has always been interested in learning about different cultures as well as seeing all types of architecture and nature surrounding it.

Isaiah has recently joined our team in 2021 as a kennel assistant in hopes of furthering his career in the veterinary field. He has a very strong passion for animals and wants to further his knowledge and to pursue a career in Veterinary Science. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his fur babies Cleo; a Great Dane, and his new puppy Archie.

Karina started working with us in the summer of 2021 due to her passion for animals. She loves spending her free time riding her horse and playing with her Border Collie, Lady May.

Brianna

Practice Manager

Brianna joined Animal Clinic of Santa Maria in 2014 and became the Hospital Manager in 2019. She is a California native, born and raised on the Central Coast. Brianna has always had a passion for animals, both large and small. When she is not at work, you will find her at the stables riding her horse or spending time with her family and friends. Brianna loves meeting new people and looks forward to creating long-lasting connections with clients and their pets.

Receptionist

Jenny joined the ACSM team in 2022. She has been in vet med for about 2 years now and has a great love for it. She deeply enjoys interacting with clients and is always happy to assist any of the patients needs. When she's not at work, she enjoys spending her time with her husband going to concerts, trying new restaurants and taking their puppy Quinn on fun adventures.

Ashley

Receptionist

Ashley started working as a kennel assistant here in 2020 and instantly developed a passion for the Veterinary Field. She is currently beginning her studies to become an RVT at Hancock College. Ashley grew up around small animals and livestock. They have always been an important part of her life. She has a Golden Retriever named Goose and enjoys spending her free time going to concerts, spending time with friends and traveling to new places.

Destiny

Receptionist

Destiny has been with us since 2022. She started as a Kennel Attendant and was quickly promoted to Receptionist. Due to her love for animals, she recently completed the RVT program at Hancock College and is continuing to expand her knowledge in the field. She is working toward her goal of taking the RVT exam to become a certified Technician. In her free time she loves to spend time with family and friends, trying new foods and visiting new places. And of course can't forget spending time with her furr babies; Tux and Nala.
